Pink and green bear-thday!

Birthday cards are always handy to have around, so without anyone in particular in mind, I made the following card:

There are a lot of small details that one just can’t really see in the photos unless I point it out, but that’s what this blog post is for!  This was a very simple card and easy card to make and was following a card challenge sketch.

So first I had the bear pre-coloured and cut from last week and it didn’t have the white lines onteh cake yet.  Usually, I do not add the “white line” details to my colouring, but I’m a fan of Amy Yang (@sharingnewlove) and I notice she does the white like a lot, so I tried it on the cake icing because I wanted the icing to look really yummy, haha!  I also had put some homemade pearl water (perfect pearls mixed with water and glycerin in a water brush) and brushed it over the cake icing to give it a subtle shine.

The next little detail that I added was I used a yellow Sakura glaze pen on the cake candles to give it a subtle gloss to it.  And finally, the last small detail I added was glossy accents on the deep pink dots.  The dots already had a glitter coating on it, but I wanted to give it more dimension, so I dotted glossy accents to make little “domes”.  It’s again a very small detail and originally I wanted to use sequins or blings, but I guess I’m in a very subtle mood today?

Anyway, all the green paper and bear are propped up with foam tape.  I really enjoyed making this card, and it was very easy to make.  I can feel that whoever that gets this card would really like it!

This card is submitted to the following challenges:

  1. #201 Happy Birthday Aud Sentiments
  2. Freshly Made Sketches #332 – A Sketch by Karren
