Beary Special Day

This time, a birthday card for a few challenges!! This time I chose an interesting set of colours to work with, but it all worked out somehow. Here is the card:

I stamped the bear, hat, and presents with black Distress Ink, then with black Memento (I just felt like using two ink brands), coloured it with alcohol-ink markers, then stamped it again with versafine to make the black lines nice and crisp. (I used my home-made stamping tool.) I glued the hat onto the bear’s head, then used Glossy Accents onto the balloon.

Before I made the card, I had chosen the balloon patterned paper. Then I was going to use white for the left side, but I decided against making yet another white card. So I went with a minty metallic green with a linen structure. I die cut the edge of the mint green paper, and then glued everything together on a normal white card paper. Next, I made a little fishtail banner, and spent a while looking for the perfect sentiment. (I originally had a different design in my head.) The sentiment banner is propped up with foam tape. Finally, I glued on small pink and lime green sequins.

This card is being entered in a few challenges:

  1. Simon Says: Happy Birthday!
  2. Always Happy Birthday April Challenge (optional balloons)
  3. Craftaholics R Us – Challenge #14 Birthday Cards
  4. Papercraft Business Challenge #5
  5. Always Fun Challenges #52

I managed to find all these card challenges thanks to a blog I recently found called Paper Playful. Such a useful blog! If anyone from Paper Playful ever reads this, you gals are awesome!!

  1. What a cute card – I love this MFT bear. I am so glad you used the mint instead of the whir – it goes with the balloon paper so well, that combines with the die you used to give the edge interest. I really love the way your card turned out!! Thanks for playing along at Papercraft Challenge.
