I wanted to do a challenge and when I was looking at the sketch, I noticed the grey rectangle was “hanging off” the side of the card. This inspired me to do a tri-fold card!
So firstly, here is the front of my card:
And here is what’s behind the flap:
The idea of the card is that you get a surprise behind the flap! Behind the present and the little pink punched heart on the right is a thin magnet. But my magnets were not strong enough to attract each other through the papers. 😦
Anyway, the card is fairly easy to put together. I stamped, coloured (coloured pencils and white spirit), and die cut the bears, balloon and presents. Then I took a light blue metallic linen card and cut that down to give the card a background colour. The diagonally-striped piece is a patterned paper cut down and the edges rounded on one side. This flap goes completely across the back because I wanted the back of the card to also have some personality instead of just boring white. It also kind of gives the idea of a ribbon on a present box.
Next I die cut the heart, stamped the sentiment on, and then stitched through the heart’s holes with light pink embroidery floss. Next, I pieced everything together with double-sided tape and glue, and then stamped the second sentiment. Finally, I felt the card needed just a tad more, so I added thin glitter washi tape to border the light blue card.
The card is glittery in all the right places and I love the added touch of the embroidery floss so it’s not “just paper”.
This card is made for the following challenges:
- SimonSaysStamp Wednesday Challenge – Add A Die Cut
- Just Add Ink – #396 Sketch
I also wanted to enter it for other challenges… but those challenges are mainly “clean and simple” challenges, and I felt this card was not clean and simple enough. Well, more reasons to make more cards!
Oh I love your idea of a tri fold card Emma, with its hidden surprise. Love your threaded heart, such a great textural touch! Thanks for joining us at Just Add Ink this week.
